How Far Can One Set Go?

Have you see the Card Decor Sets at Globecraft Memories? These sets are fabulous. I have been playing with Card Decor Set #1  and am amazed. I am a frugal woman and love the bang for your buck you get with these sets. They are inexpensive; they are only $3.99 and when you can get four or five projects out of one set they are a bargain.


These are the pieces that come in set #1.  Of course they are bare book quality chipboard like all of the Piccolo pieces. I will let you know that the fine details in the vines make removing them a little harder than some of the pieces. I found a straight pin worked great for pushing them out.

I was wanting to make a card, but I hate to think of my work ending up in a drawer or worse yet in the trash. If you are like me, you are going to love this new item coming out soon. It is an easel card. You simply decorate the front like you would any other card front, but it has a built in easel to insure it ends up displayed by the recipient. I am telling you I love this.

 Of course when I see blank white cardstock I start to see visions of distress ink, so I inked up the front with Weathered Wood and Dusty Concord Distress inks. I made sure to ink the base flap too as it will show a bit when on display.

 Once I had the back ground inked, I stamped the sentiment. I love how whimsical this came out.

 The vines needed to be green. I started to pick up paint, but then I thought about the Mossy Glen Enamel Powder. I love the way it came out. It is such a gorgeous green. These enamel powders are so easy to use. I covered them with Enamel Adhesive which is a snap with the dauber top. I then sprinkled the mossy glen over it. I did a full heat set. I melted it until it was completely smooth. I glued it down using Matte Glastique. This is more than just an adhesive, but on projects like this I love that if I am messy in my gluing it doesn't show. It dries completely clear. You honestly can't see it.

 The butterflies were punched out of white cardstock. They were coated in enamel adhesive and then sprinkled with Enchanted Aubergine. I did a full heat making the enamel completely smooth again. The colors are just beautiful. I used the Glastique to adhere the butterflies too.

 The butterfly trails were ditted ion using Stickles. It was a fun little touch.

When I finished it still needed just a little something more, so I took my Versamark marker and ran it around the very edge of the card front. I then sprinkled Vintage Silver Embossing Enamel around the edge and then heat set it. It just finished it off perfectly.

This picture shows it lying flat to slide in an envelope and mail. This was project #1 from set #1. I apologize in advance for the reflections in the photos of project #2. We were experiencing what I call liquid sunshine. It was sunny out, but raining. It was just enough rain to keep me from being able to take photos outside. The lighting in my home is awful and reflected in the photograph on the layout.

 Just a quick scrapbook page I was making using Echo Park papers. It was pretty, but fell just a bit flat. The addition  of some pieces out of this set aids the eye in moving through the list of adjectives. The vines at the top us Mossy Glen, but the flourishes were cover in 24K Gold. The little heart anchors it all and is covered in Cranberry Wine Enamel Powder.

Zentangled Airship

This may be a pretty kitschy project, but I'm loving it after having completed it.  Steampunk Airships have been catching my eye for months now.  Zentangle, as well, always makes me stop in my tracks.  Yet I have no real love for either.  Hmmmm....For some odd reason, I found combining the two to be intriquing. 

Beginning with the Mini Steampunk Airship from Globecraft Memories, I Zentangled the frame, some hot-air balloons in the globe, and part of the tail.  I debated whether to use traditional steampunk coloring - however, my Zentangle preference is pure black and white - or at the very least bright colors...so I added a touch of red for color.  I do feel you can nover go wrong with red, black, and gold!  Accented with Piccolo enamel powders - Textured Black, Gilded Rose Gold, and Butterscotch, I am liking my finished airship!

Flower Photos

Hi, it's Candy and I'm back with another project using Piccolo products by Globecraft Memories.

I love nature and find myself taking a plethora of pictures of flowers, clouds, leaves and trees. Close-up flowers are my greatest weakness. I can take dozens of photos every day in my yard alone. I cannot help myself -- when I really look into the center of the flower, enlarged through the photo, I see amazingly captivating beauty. And, then the photo taking continues.

The only problem is that I end up with hundreds of photos of nature that I do not know what to do with. I have scrapped some of them and put others in a photo album, but that seems like such a waste to me.

So, I decided it was time to try to work them into a card. Here is my first attempt:

It was simple enough that I could easily make a stack of cards to give as a gift (and use up my collection of flower photos).

To start, I created a card out of brown cardstock. Then I trimmed the photo to fit, but I didn't attach it just yet.

I stamped the saying (Impression Obsession) on a piece of vellum and trimmed it. I knew I wanted to attach it with brads and I spent quite some time looking for the right ones. Then, I realized that the brads would probably accept Piccolo Enamel Powder, so I grabbed a plain brad, covered it in Piccolo Enamel Powder Adhesive, and then sprinkled it with Vintage Copper Enamel Powder. I used a pair of tweezers to hold it while I heated it. It covered the brad beautifully and took just seconds to heat set.

That done, I used the brads to affix the vellum to the photo and then adhered the photo to the card (this way the back of the brads are hidden between the photo and the cardstock and won't show on the inside.)

There was a spot on the photo that was rather plain, so I decided it needed a little more embellishing. I pulled out a few Piccolo Card Decor Flourishes and covered them with the same Vintage Copper Enamel Powder and attached them with Matte Glastique. It dries clear and with no shine, so no one will ever know how messy my gluing is!

Despite its simplicity, I think this card is beautiful, don't you?

Piccolo Powders

Hi, this is Candy and I am so excited to share a card I made with some brand-new products from Globecraft Memories.

These are from the new Piccolo line. The Piccolo Card Decor pieces are made from compressed, high-quality chipboard and then cut with a laser for small, intricate images. The chipboard is stronger and thinner than traditional chipboard die cuts, making them perfect for both card making and scrapbooking. When combined with the new Piccolo Enamel Powders, the results are spectacular.

Piccolo Enamel Powders are similar to embossing powders, but they go way beyond what any embossing powder ever thought of being. These powders can be heated a little for an interesting texture or heated a lot for a smooth shine. They come in a variety of textures and colors ... I used Brown Stone, Mardi Gras and Enchanted Aubergine in this sample. Just look at the texture and depth of color ...

Isn't it beautiful?

The Enamel Powder Adhesive is applied in a paint dabber, rather than an ink pad like traditional embossing powders. It is quick and much easier to use, too. I love it!

For the butterflies, I heaped the enamel powder on top of the chipboard and heated it from a distance until it warmed up enough to not blow around. Then I moved the heat gun closer and heated until the powder was completely smooth. I love how it bubbled and added such depth.

I used Globecraft Memories new Glastique in a matte finish to adhere all of the parts. You apply the glue, hold it for a few seconds (a little longer when gluing onto an enameled surface) and then let it finish drying. The matte finish doesn't show if you are a sloppy gluer, like me, and it holds extremely well.
